A working farm over generations with a focus on ecology and strong connections with the local community of Haxby and Wigginton. We want to provide a clean lake to support swimming and well-being, routed firmly amongst the wildlife and natural surroundings.
Jess has been a keen advocate and cold water swimmer/dipper for the last 6-7 years. If you are local to the lake and are keen to try for the very first time, do get in contact if you would like company or support to begin your wild swimming journey. The community is kind, friendly and welcoming!
You will mainly see Jess (left) and Vicky (right) when you visit the pond. They have been good friends for many years and are also sisters in law! You may also see other Lazenby family members and friends helping out too.
Cold water immersion can not only support cardiovascular health, it can also provide relief from achy muscles, reduce pain & inflammation and can also help to strengthen immune response. It can also improve circulation, boost energy levels and can increase metabolism and assist with weight management, as part of a healthy lifestyle.
As well as the physical benefits, it also provides a natural hit of endorphins, the happy hormones, which give an unmistakably thrilling feeling and sense of euphoria. Boosting these feel-good chemicals in the body can also help to manage anxiety, stress and depression and provide a sense of rejuvenation.
Please reach us at Chalonerpond@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Swimwear is a necessity and also footwear of some kind due to the muddy nature of the base of the pond. After that, it is your choice whether you wear extra layers, wetsuits, gloves, hats, tow floats or anything else!
Because we are still a working farm with livestock, we do not allow dogs.
During opening hours, you are welcome to come and see the pond. Please pay for a parking ticket if you are bringing a car and if you swim, please purchase a swim ticket. Please do not come to the farm outside the pond opening hours unless pre-arranged/agreed with staff. You must however sign in to declare that you agree to the terms and conditions of the pond. Thank you.
No. For swimming we are over 18 only at the moment, mainly due to the level of risk and Safeguarding without proper changing being too difficult for us to manage.
However, we also quite like adults only!
There are SUP sessions which are all-age because they are very restricted in number but there would still need to be an adult present - please read the terms and conditions attached to the ticket for this.
Thank you!
